SEO Johannesburg

This post is to show you a way to find subjects to use for new content on your website that will also have the added benefit of bringing you buyer traffic.

So, instead of trying to suck ideas for content out of fresh air, use this method and after a few posts are behind you, you will probably be getting a ton more traffic to your website.

You can watch the video first – and then go down the images for a recap of this process.

How to find keyword topics that have traffic attached.

Step one – Add a plugin to Google Chrome.

The plugin is called Keywords everywhere.

Follow the steps to get it installed and registered.

Step Two

Now you have numbers to work with in your search results.

When you search Google for keywords that might bring you business, you will now have search numbers to work with.

See this example – I searched for Kitchen Companies in London and the results told me that 30 people a month look that exact keyword up.

This will help you decide if the keyword has enough interest to warrant the effort to write up a page or post to get traffic from Google for that keyword.

Step Three – Check the other Google Suggestions for better keywords.

Once you have added in a keyword to research, you can also scroll down to the bottom of the page and most times Google will add more related keyword searches for you to check for potential content opportunities.

Go through all of these, one by one, or let them give you ideas to search for better-related keywords until you find ones that are easy to rank for and are getting a lot of searches.

Step Four – Test all potential keyword ideas

The idea is to find the subjects that you can write about, and that people are searching for ideas or solutions for that keyword.

Look at the suggested keyword ideas for related keywords to test

Step Five takes you into the world of SEO (sorry)

What you are going to do now is see if you have a snowball’s chance in hell to actually rank for that keyword on page one. Now unless you are trying to target huge keywords like “weight loss” where you will have no chance, I still need to show you this step so you can see if you are biting off more than you can chew.

Please remember that very high search keywords have so much competition that those big marketers are spending hundreds and thousands of Dollars to get ranked.

So, to give you a bit of a lesson you need to know that Google has three ways of listing results on the search engines.

Part one is the paid ads

Part two is the Local Search Results – called GMB.

This is a very important place to get leads if you are a local service business, or supply people locally. For example, I do a lot of “Johannesburg Website Designer” leads and others and they bring me in a lot of business.

But, that is not what I am covering on this page (look for my help elsewhere) we are doing organic search results for now. see the next image, please…

Part three of the results page on Google is the “Organic” listings.

This is where we are going to be targeting our efforts.

The first results here in this section can get up to as high as 35% of the clicks when people search. Please note that not only do you need to do the work to rank up here on these pages, but you still need to make the title of your post or page enticing enough to get all the clicks possible.

Please watch the video above here for a bit of an explanation on this part.

OK, lesson over. Now for the next step.

Step five continued

What you are going to do now is to see how strong your opposition is for that number one spot is in the rankings for that keyword.

Right click on the number one listing and open it in a new tab.

Now go to a website called  and add in the URL you just copied.

What you are looking for here are how many back links are pointing to that page and that will tell you if you can create as many or more back links to beat them in the rankings.

Please note that it is not just back links that will get your page ranked well for that keyword, there are more than a dozen factors, but back links are one of the biggest.

See my comments on the information you will find here on this page.

1 – The total number of back links to that entire website. Big authority websites can often have a huge amount. This one in my example has 13 million which is bad for you to try to beat them. This is a big advantage for the authority websites and should give you the motivation to keep on adding great content to your website so that people will want to share and link to your site naturally and often. One day in the future your site might be as powerful as this example.

2 – Trust flow is not that important for you to look at now as a competing factor. a good trust flow is normally above 25.

3 – The citation flow is also not worth worrying about. The big sites can get quite high here, but your content, your page structure, your back links are far more important ranking factors.

4 5 and 6 – These are the numbers you are looking for. When you are using the free version of Majestic you will not be able to see how strong their back links are, but a lot of older websites have many crappy back links.

If you can get a few decent back links with contextual links added in from highly related websites to your site, you will probably beat older websites. If they have 200 back links, you might beat them with as little as 20 good links.

This is not a course on how to do back linking, as that would be a book with 50 videos, but just know that you will need to get links.

In a nut shell – getting ranked for your keywords.

1 – Make sure that your page had more than 500 words. 2000 is far better, but if you are just going to repeat yourself over and over that would be bad.

If you need content idea topics go to and type in your keyword and use those answers as titles for more paragraphs in your pages.

2 – Link a few times from your new page with both contextual links using your keywords and full URL’s to other pages on your site.

3 – Use your keyword and variations of it in your title, in an H1 and H2 title, put it in italics once and bold once. Try to use the keyword at the beginning and at the end of your page.

4 – use related keywords as tags for your post. do not do too many – 20 is just fine.

5 – Get as much social media sharing as possible. This is a BIG ranking factor. Use SocialAdr for this. They are fantastic. 200 to 300 shares are good.

6 – Make sure you have Google XML sitemaps plugin installed with the tags bit ticked. Then once you have published your post, take the URL and go to Google and search for “Submit your URL to Google” and submit the new page.

7 – Build up decent Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts so you can share your stuff there all the time.

8 – create web 2.0 properties like a Wix site or Weebly, Blogger, and Tumblr. Then share each and every page and more on those properties linking back to your page with your chosen contextual links.

9 – Do guest posting and link to that page. Do infographics for use as “guest posts” and link to your page.

10 – If your page gets stuck around page two in the SERPs use this service to go to the top  – Serpclix
