About Rob Anderson
Hi – Welcome to my world.
I am Rob Anderson.
Now that you have arrived here I thought that I had better warn you that you are going to get a very biased story about who Rob Anderson is, and what he does.
Quite simply because I am writing about myself.
And I am convinced that I am a genius. I will admit that I am a very flawed genius, but naturally I am not going to be telling you too many of the flaws. I will leave you to discover those all by yourself. Modesty is not one of my traits. How stupid is modesty? how else am I going to be able to tell you how talented and clever I am if I have to do it while trying to be modest?
Honesty is one of my strongest traits though, and so while I do enjoy joking with you here on this page, Obviously I still think that most of what I say is true. So does that mean that I need therapy?
YES – The answer to that is a big huge massive YES! But I flatly refuse to go and get therapy as then if I did what would all my female friends do when they talk to me? I would have deprived them of the opportunity of fixing me. ( haha The truth is that if my wife hasn’t been able to fix me in 30 years – I doubt if anyone else could)
Ok, let us get down to some of the real nitty gritty here. I am 50 ish years old and do not take life very seriously. I fail to allow the seriousness of life affect the good times that I usually am having. We are given choices every minute of the day, thousands of them and when I see people choose the “hard” choice it completely amazes me. What the hell?
When I was making hammocks full time, very often the Afrikaans community would use a saying that I grew to love, and adopt as a life philosophy, and it went like this ” of sitting and standing – I like lying down the best”
OK, so it translates badly but it is perfectly well said right?
Having said that, I suspect that I have worked 50% more hours than most people and it is simply because I only ever do things that I am fanatically passionate about. I have been known to get out of bed in the middle of the night and sit down to write or draw an idea that was squashing its way out of my head. Most of the time I get more ideas than days in the week and for that reason I have piles of notes and papers scattered all over the place. ( well not actually scattered as my long suffering wife hates clutter and most of it get packed away).
Yeah, I know, you are wondering if there is any point at all to what is written on this page right? truth be told – I doubt it, but if I can keep you amused and confused there is a chance that somewhere near the end I can slip in a BUY-NOW-BUTTON and get you to click on it.
Nah, not true. But I would like to point out something that is very important to me. None of my websites are finished at all. There are a few of the sub domains that are sort of done, but they are really only banana peels placed in sneaky places meant to send you into my websites.
Now I would like you to keep an eye on the websites that do matter to me,
My work from home website…
this one is so unorganized at the moment that it needs a 6 month solid shake up, but I feel really passionate about small home business opportunities that I will forever be adding stuff to that one. I suspect that over time it will get very big. Hopefully organized first.
It’s here if you really need to see it http://workfromhomemembership.com/blog
Then there is my gardening stuff.
I am a fanatical nature lover and bunny hugger and I am forever digging in my garden working out ways to make my chillies grow bigger than everyone else’s. With this category (website?) comes all the peripheral areas that I am a little weird about – like having solar energy, or organic farming. So over time I am hoping to get the entire world to stop walking in the street instead of staying on the pavement where they belong, and to stop cutting down the trees and to live like hippies. Shouldn’t be hard.
So as a start here are the main garden sites so far…
http://gardening.information-here.com and
so let me see, ahh – hammocks.
You are on the original Hammock website now
Now hammocks and more importantly furniture design totally consumed me for a number of years, and it was when I was given the opportunity to play with marketing. I would forever be testing different ways to make people buy hammocks. great fun.
This hammock website is the oldest, but is not very well looked after. But I do keep promising myself that I will come back and do more work on it. I know what the real problem is with the hammocks website. I did it for too long, as my attention span is really only good for about two years I am kinda finished with it. But having said that, You need to know that I made the biggest , most comfortable hammocks in the whole world and that I took the whole idea of outdoor comfort to a completely new level. That was how the outdoor art idea was born as I spent so many happy hours comfortable ensconced in a very comfy hammock that art was always in my thoughts.
Sooner or later I will finish writing the HOW-TO-BUILD-THIS-BRILLIANT-HAMMOCK-CHAIR e book that I have started. In fact it is fairly far, and all it needs is about 3 or 4 days of intensive writing. Who knows maybe soon.
I have a very strong love of decor and decoration and will perhaps turn the Designsmith brand into a decoration website in the future.
Finally I have been doing free websites for my friends – mostly the artists, and that has developed into a system where I would do the research for anyone who needs it, and will then do the initial website design for them on condition that they use the hosting that I recommend.
That has been soothing the constant need that I seem to have to help people. That is a sickness that I realize does suck away at my time, but I cannot help myself. I like helping people.
The free website site is here…
So NOW DO YOU SEE WHAT IS REALLY HAPPENING? I have this scatterbrain approach to this all, and am having fun doing it so where is the problem? Over time the sites do get fiddled with and the content does grow, and I suspect that in six months or so you will find that I have finished all these that I have told you about here and you might find me painting portraits on an island somewhere. Who knows time will tell.
